We are not aware of any outstanding or live claim against BP or related entities over Great House Farm, noting the matter was settled by the 1987 Court of Appeal decision, so we cannot confirm a preservation hold without a specific claim being set out. We also ask for documents in PDF or Word as the links sent are inaccessible.
“we are not aware of any outstanding or live cause of action that bp or any related entity would need to answer in relation to this property”
I ask BP Archive to identify who holds property, litigation and demolition records from 1969–1993 for Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr, covering conveyances, title registrations, the 1988 court case and the 1993 transfer, with a reply requested by 16 November 2026.
“whether you hold, or can identify the custodian of, the records below”
I am asking BP p.l.c., BP Properties Ltd, the BP Pension Trust and any successors to preserve all records from 1969 to present relating to Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr, Llandough, including litigation and demolition files, and I ask for the name of any external solicitors involved.
“preserve, and not destroy, delete, overwrite or dispose of, any records”
I issued a formal preservation notice to BP and several other bodies requiring them to retain records on Great House Farm/Tŷ Mawr, Llandough, and its later development, making clear it is not a claim, service of proceedings, or a statutory request.
We checked BP's records and found no documents concerning Great House Farm from before 1955, noting that BP did not acquire the property until the 1960s.
“unable to locate any documents concerning the matter prior to 1955”
I accepted that post-1954 BP records are unavailable and narrowed my request to pre-1955 material on Great House Farm/Tŷ Mawr, listing specific items such as the 1916 tenancy, 1924 and 1938 sale particulars, the 1938 conveyance, and any pre-1955 notice to quit.
We confirmed that the BP Archive only holds material up to the end of 1954 and that access to post-1954 records is not available to external researchers due to resource constraints.
“access to post-1954 materials held in the BP Archive is not available”
I asked the BP Archive to search 1955–1988 holdings for records on Great House Farm/Tŷ Mawr, Llandough, including title, boundaries, litigation and Land Registry correspondence, to clarify how BP itself understood the property's parcels and when they were consolidated.
As heir of Mary Williams, I formally asked BP to disclose all deeds, leases, correspondence, rent records and court files relating to Great House Farm, titles WA231076/WA240304, and to place a litigation hold on all related files, referencing my notice of 15 May 2026.
“formal disclosure request in support of ongoing restitution. Litigation hold required on all files”
I sent BP a follow-up notice summarising my family's dispossession from Great House Farm, Llandough, including the 1987 appeal ruling, 1988 eviction and demolition, and my father's death, referencing my earlier notice of 15 May 2026.
“rightful owners and occupiers of Great House Farm, Llandough since 1667 until our dispossession via armed force in 1988”
I notified BP's Group General Counsel that I am reviewing BP Properties Ltd v Buckler [1987] EWCA Civ 2, involving my late grandmother and father, and am considering a challenge to the ruling. I offered private dialogue before any public or legal escalation and asked for a response within 14 days.
“I believe it is appropriate to extend BP the opportunity for early, private dialogue”
