We narrowed our earlier request to ask Mount Stuart for any 1870–1880 lease or sale of Great House Farm, 1870s rentals showing the occupier, and the December 1938 sale of the Bute interest at Llandough, and asked for a reply by 6 November 2026.
“a division of the farm to 1877, but no document has been located”
We are not answering general enquiries until January 2027, but research visits remain available by three weeks' advance booking at £20 per day, and reproduction or loan requests can still be processed.
“Research Visits: these remain available by 3-weeks' advance appointment with our Collections Team. These are charged at £20 per day.”
We asked Mount Stuart to book a research visit and send registration details, listing Bute Estate records we hope to see on Great House Farm/Tŷ Mawr at Llandough-juxta-Penarth, including 1667 deeds, a possible 999-year lease, 1875–1880 accounts, and the later conveyance from the Vaughan family.
“Any lease of Great House to the Williams family, or any lease of it for 999 years.”
